Writing a guest blog post is more than just picking a blog and writing down your best thoughts. In order to write a guest blog post you need to get permission from the blog owner to write the post.

In most cases, the blog owner is not going to want you to include affiliate links of any type. This could harm their page ranking.

However, you should and do need to ask if you can include a link back to your blog. That is pretty much the point of guest blogging. You want to drive traffic to your site through others sites using your article or post.

Usually a website has a “contact us” section with an email, or form that you can fill out. Either one will work if the form has room for you to write. Send the blog owner a semi-professional letter.

You do not need a business letter, but you do not want to just write your request as a comment either. You want to let the blog owner know that you are a serious writer who is professional and knows exactly what they are doing.

Consider pitching your ideas to the blog owner. Do not go too deep into detail but let them know what it is you plan to write about.

You should choose blogs that have similar content to what it is you wish to post.In addition, you might want to choose blogs that are similar in nature to yours.

After you have pitched your idea to the blog owner let him know that you are also willing to write on any subject he chooses.

This will add to your chances of being able to write up a post with a link to your site.
