When you set out to write copy for a property you are trying to sell, there is a single important question you must answer first. What is your objective?

Objective

Having a clearly defined objective does two things for your copywriting. First, it makes writing your copy easier.

Once you know why you are writing your copy, it will be easier to choose which information to include in your piece and where to draw your focus.

Secondly, since your objective is clearly stated, i.e. home for sale, the audience reading your copy will be provided with the right information and the information they need to encourage them to take the step.

Here are a few examples:

* Property Description
* Open House
* Price Reduction
* Website Content

Inform Your Audience

Now that your objective is clearly defined, it’s time to inform your audience. Your copywriting should be written with confidence.

Your readers should know that you are serious about selling this property and have the ability and know-how to make the best sale.

If you are writing copy for a real estate website you have more leeway to include as much information as you want.

When focusing on your writing, keep in mind that when it comes to reading information on the internet, people have short attention spans.

Picture a pyramid when writing your copy. List the most important and valuable information at the top of the pyramid.

This would be your opening paragraph. This enables you to capture your audience’s attention. Include type of property, asking price and description.

The more important the information, the higher up it should be on your pyramid.

Some people think by including the most important information at the end of their copy they will keep their audiences attention.

In most cases, when people do not find the information that they want quickly, they simply move on to the next.
