Believe it or not, the “About Us” section of your website is not all about you, your agency and the real estate services you provide.
It’s about giving prospective clients looking to find a home for sale an easily accessible way to contact you.
In truth, the About Us section is for and about prospective clients.
A big turn off for prospective clients who are interested in beginning a working relationship with you is not being provided with an easy way to contact you.
First, this information must be easy to find on your website.
A link/button to your About Us section should be visible on each web page. Include a link/button at the top and/or bottom of each page. Another big turn off is providing an email form as the only means of contact.
Always include the following in your About Us section:
- Actual Email Address
- Contact Phone Numbers
- Fax Number
- Physical Address
- Mailing Address
For larger agencies, contact information should include corporate headquarters as well as divisions. Phone numbers should include office, cell, department numbers (if applicable) and the information for individual agents.
For large agencies with corporate and division web pages, include links to specific divisions by region, state, county, etc. Also, list office hours and your mission statement.
Division web pages or websites dedicated to smaller agencies should provide information about individual agents that is plentiful, clear, concise and up to date. Here is what to include:
- Agents Name
- Length of Time at Agency
- Length of Time in Industry
- Real Estate Market Niche
- Job Title/Real Estate Services
- Personalized Character Description
It’s important that individual agents are approachable. Including a photo and personalized character description will do just that. Prospective clients looking to find a home for sale tend to gravitate towards agents similar to themselves and ones they can relate to.
Your About Us section is an important part of your website and online marketing strategy. This is especially true in the real estate market.
A generic About Us section has the potential to turn clients away which can be detrimental in a competitive real estate market.
It’s important to make contacting your agency as easy as possible because the first step in helping a client find a home for sale is to establish a relationship with them.
