Creating a monthly or weekly address isn’t only for the President.

If you’re looking for a new way to speak to your followers and provide them with beneficial information, consider recording an audio or video clip.

Content

First, think about your target audience and consider your niche. These are the people you will be addressing.

Next, what is a common issue that many of your followers are facing within your niche? Refer to your blog, comments left on social media platforms, and consult forums for ideas.

Choose an issue of interest and designate it as the focal point of your monthly address. Your content should begin by stating the issue at hand. From there, offer 3 or 4 pertinent pieces of information that can help to resolve the issue.

Should You Go Personal?

Yes, to a certain extent. Speak to your audience as if you were sitting down for lunch with a friend and they asked you for advice. This will make you appealing and relatable to your audience.

If you have faced the same issue, which will make you even more appealing, then say so. Tell your audience what you did to work through it and why this solution worked for you.

Keep your addresses on track and always get straight to the point. If you veer off topic or drone on about a boring subject, your listeners/viewers are likely to turn you off.

The Clip

Keep your clips short, between 3 and 4 minutes long. The audio should be clear with no background noise as a disruption.

The video should be clear as well, and done in the right lighting. Creating an audio or video clip can be done on your home computer or with a flip phone.

Where to Post

Post your clips on your website, blog and social media outlets. Provide links and sharing tools so your followers can share your clips with the click of a button.

As your monthly clips pick up steam, allow your audience to interact by voting on next month’s topic or making suggestions.

As always, be consistent. Post your clips at the same time every month, i.e. the last Friday or first Tuesday of every month.

Would you consider making a monthly address on your blog? Why or why not?
