A majority of internet users are online in search of information.

A great way for you to hone in on these users is to create and give them the information they are looking for in one place. A buyer’s guide can do just that.

If you sell goods or services online, create a buyer’s guide that will help your potential customers find the right product or service for them.

This type of information is greatly appreciated by many. A buyer’s guide answers questions that a customer has and should be written from their prospective.

Target Audience

Always create a guide with a target audience in mind. For example, if you sell lawnmowers, create a guide that helps consumers choose a lawnmower that fits their needs and budget.

Creating a buyer’s guide takes time and lots of work. Products must be researched and only factual, up to date information should be used. Creating your first guide can be a bit overwhelming.

If you find that to be the case, then narrow down your topic a bit more. Instead of writing a buyer’s guide for all lawnmowers start with one focused on riding mowers instead.

Separate guides for other styles of lawnmowers can be compiled at another time. Once you have a buyer’s guide completed for each style of lawnmower, you can always put them together as one complete guide.

Content

Always include an overview of your guide. What have you written about? What is your purpose? Include an index, i.e. riding lawnmowers, push mowers, etc.

The content and the information you are providing is the most important element of your guide.

Explain how you evaluated each product and why. List average prices for all products evaluated and a concise description of each, i.e. make, model, size, color, etc.

Include a summary of your findings as well as tips for product selection and purchase.

The key to a successful buyer’s guide is to create one that is impartial. Remember, always know the laws in your state, in this case libel laws to avoid any lawsuits down the road.

If this worries you, insert a disclaimer into your guide stating that these views are your own and based on your own experiences.
