Many small businesses have been hit especially hard due to the shape the economy is in. Making a name in the business world and staying ahead of the competition can be costly.

So some businesses have turned to alternative and cost effective ways as a means of advertising. Here are some costs saving ideas.

Think Outside of the Box

Who says you have to market your business the old fashioned way? Look for promotional ideas and advertising techniques that your competition isn’t using. Sometimes it’s the unconventional marketing technique that will get you noticed.

It also puts your business in a league of its own in that particular marketing genre.

This marketing method is not only different and likely to catch some attention, it’s also low cost.

Set Up Cross Promotions

Find another small business in your area, one that is not a competitor, and make a deal to cross promote your businesses.

Have them recommend your business in a creative fashion and vice versa. This is a great, money saving tactic that is sure to generate more customers and additional income.

Place Ads

Advertising in newspapers, magazines and other publications is a typical way to market your business to a large audience but it is expensive.

Instead of placing one or two large ads, place them in different online publications to reach an even bigger audience.  Alternatively you can try out a pay-per-click (PPC) advertising campaign.

Create Special Deals for Existing Customers

Every small business has repeat customers. Create a special promotion or deal just for them. This not only shows them how much they are appreciated but will get them to buy from your business again and again.
