As a non-profit it’s important to have a well established and recognizable brand.

Your brand is what connects you to the people you help, donators, the community and essentially, the world. Your brand represents the relationship you have with others.

When connecting on social media outlets it’s imperative that your brand be recognizable.

This allows loyal followers to easily find and follow you. It also allows you to connect with new people and further expand your cause.

Your brand is a powerful way to garner an emotional response from your followers.

When you connect emotionally to people on Facebook, Twitter, your blog, etc. they are more likely to join your cause and become a member of your community. Furthermore, people donate emotionally.

Promoting your brand on social media is an effective way to reach millions of people. All it takes is a few keystrokes, time and effort.

When you promote your brand successfully, people know exactly what your non-profit is about, what motivates your non-profit, and what actions your non-profit takes to succeed. Essentially, your brand is your identity.

The people who connect with you emotionally and psychologically are the ones who will lend their support to your organization through volunteering, monetary donations, their expertise and time.

Increase Your Brand Power: Choose the Right Name and Tagline

If you haven’t already, select a name that is easy to remember and one that is easily associated with your cause.

For example, if your non-profit was created to rescue abused animals that should be reflected in your name.

Next, get creative and develop an equally suitable tagline. Your tagline should be a few words or a phrase that is also easy to remember and recognize.

When people see your tagline on their favorite social media websites they should easily be able to associate it with your brand.

There are so many reputable non-profit organizations out there. Often times, there are too many to choose from and lets face it, we can’t support them all.

A great tip is to find a niche audience and focus your brand building in that area.

Identify the people who will emotionally connect with your cause and focus your social media marketing on them.

Sticking with the abused animal rescue cause, target animal lovers by offering beneficial information on how to care for and adopt pets, etc.

What other moves can you make as a non-profit to build your brand power using social media?
