Social media is used by millions of organizations to promote their brands and send traffic to their websites.

Your profile is the place people go to find out what your non-profit is all about. Here are some tips on how to properly set up your social media profiles for your organization.

Honesty is the Best Policy

Always, always fill out your profiles honestly. Misleading your visitors to send traffic to your website will only hurt you in the long run in terms of conversions and reputation.

Leave No Field Unfilled

Social media sites provide numerous fields for you to fill out. Fill out every field that pertains to you.

Fields include contact information, a place to list website URL’s, facts, bio’s and much more.

Always take the time to make sure each field is filled in accurately and is updated on an as needed basis.

Get creative and add keywords to your social media profiles. Make sure the keywords you use fit naturally into your writing.

For example, if your non-profit donates books to school libraries, include keywords such as book donations, books for school, school donations, etc.

Use a keyword internet tool to help you put a list of popular and niche specific keywords together.

Image is Everything

Choosing an image for your non-profit is simple and straight forward. Always be consistent and use your logo. Your logo makes your non-profit easy to identify.

Every time you send out a tweet or update, your logo will be seen. This is also an effective way to build brand recognition.

Less is More When Customizing Your Profile

The old saying, less is more, should spring to mind when designing the layout for your profile. Just because you can add it doesn’t mean you should.

Adding too many graphics and animations is distracting.

Design your profile to be inviting. While it’s okay to add a touch of personality, your profile should remain professional.

Some non-profits choose to use the same color scheme as their logo’s to make their profile even more recognizable.
